Blogging uninterrupted!

Having three little ones and trying to get a complete thought typed is quite the challenge. The littlest one is waking up and letting me know it!! So, let’s see what I was thinking: I think I have figured out the RSS feed – the updates from the blogs I follow show up on my site so I don’t have to go looking – that is handy for sure!! The students will be able to keep track of some good “conversations” I am hoping they will have related to course work. Students can use their blogs to ask questions for feedback among themselves and I can monitor it – quite handy as they study for the midterm and finals or just completing lab write-ups. I believe this can be done in Blackboard – but I did not try it with that application. I think the students will enjoy this!! Oh – wait a minute – what about plagiarism?? Ah…something to think about later….Off the get the babe!!

  1. I am just starting to think about the uses of blogs in learning. For my own professional development I have found a couple of blogs worth following. I mention them in my blog on RSS feeds. Do you suppose that you could find professionals (related to your teaching specialty) who you could recommend that your students follow? If yes, in what ways could this information be integrated with your teaching? Food for thought :-)

  2. Oh Sue!!

That is an excellent suggestion!! Thanks so much for the input - I am quite excited now about the potential for learning & teaching. As a new person to this technology, what may seem obvious to most needs to be directly pointed out to others (i.e. moi!!)

    Thanks so much AGAIN!!

  3. Hey Barb
You do have your hands full!! Think about using a blog like I am using this programme blog - it can be a modular self-paced learning tool - and students can add comments only. I want to figure out how to be flagged when someone comments though. Like how will you know I have commented unless you look specifically for the comment.

    Cheers - Mary

  5. I did not think of putting my own blog in my Google Reader! I just did it. I then went to "help" and found information on comments on this site. http://www.google.com/support/reader/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=142213 Now to try it out and see if it works ...
